Dr. Peterson graduated as valedictorian from Palmer College of Chiropractic. In addition to his more than 25 years of fulltime practice, he was a faculty member at the Palmer College of Chiropractic. While teaching at Palmer, he was the team doctor for the rugby football team.

Dr. Peterson has also served as a member of the California State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. For many years Dr. Peterson was a director of the state ethics committee. For the past 20 years, he has been a member of the Palmer Chiropractic University board of trustees where he serves as chairman of the education committee and clinic committee. On many occasions, Dr. Peterson lectures at continuing education programs for other Chiropractors in numerous states as well as a number of foreign countries.

Dr. Peterson has been a member of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) for all of his professional life. In 1988, he was elected to the board of directors of the ICA. He is also a member of the American Chiropractic Association as well as the California Chiropractic Association.
